Message Looks like I'm going to be the first casualty on the Appomattox Courthouse trip. I won't have a bike to make the ride and Patriot tells me they're unlikely to have any rental bikes (sounds like they're trying to get a new rental program underway). Given that I won't have a ride for the weekend and I'm not too interested in riding as a passenger, it looks like I'm going to have to bite the dust on this one. C'est la vie.

The good news is that my bike is still scheduled to be shipped on 9 May so it is possible that while the rest of ya are riding to and from Appomattox Courthouse, I may very well be riding the weekend under 50 mph to build up the mileage on the new machine.

Message Under 50 MPH, Ed? I guess that means you'll be in 5th gear at redline the whole time. Try breaking in that engine around 30 MPH, where it's designed to run! ;-)

Message Oh, a wiseguy, eh? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

My bike isn't meant for speed--just pure tourin fun. Dave, I'll be thinking of ya as you pass me by at your typical break-neck speed to get to yer destination cause yer hurtin so much on your "go-fast" scoot. Me? I'll lean back against my comfie backrest, hit the cruise control, and meander a bit across the gorgeous countryside offered by the great state of Virginyah! Meanwhile, Dave, you just zip on into the next rest stop where I know you'll be tryin to straighten out yer back and ya'll be workin out the kinks!!

Message As I said at the social meeting, your welcome to try out the Nighthawk. But you will probably go as fast as Dave and end up like him at the end of the trip. Don't know if that would deter you.

Message Andy, I'm giving it some serious thought. I wouldn't mind making this trip. The roads we have planned really are gorgeous, although I've only made the trip once. If I do take you up on your offer I'd like to try the Nighthawk a bit before the trip so I can get a bit accustomed to the bike.

Message Bambie? YOU'RE STILL ALIVE? I thought I did ya in when I whacked ya two summers back!!! Sure, ya ran into the woods when we got the bike off ya, but judging by that long line of Bambie fur sticking up from the asphalt where ya skidded beneath my bike that huge gash my left peg put into your back, and all the ribs I must have crushed when I went over ya, I was pretty sure your tender venison would end up in someone's stew pot by the end of the day!! Hope yer a bit wiser for the run in and that yer staying away from bikers!!!
