Message We're back!

4 days of some unbelievably great riding and a break from the less than stellar NoVa weather. As usual with a Mike Wascak planned ride, the roads were umm-umm good. And, as usual for a PARR-ride, the company was awesome. Finally, as highly unusual for 2003, the weather was wonderful - temps in the low-to-mid 70's with mostly sunny skies. Seeing the site of the 1969 Woodstock again was very cool, especially with an original attendee riding with us. I'm sure Robert was able to remember some good times as he stood on that "hallowed ground" for the first time in some 34 years.

Thanks, again, all you Endless Mountain Tourers for a very enjoyable 4 days away.

Joe

Message This year's Endless Mountain Tour surpassed my expectations! The weather was fantastic! I had not pre-ridden the ride and fortunately, we lucked out. What fantastic roads! Love those Pennsylvania back country roads!! And above all else -- What a great group of people!!!! Walking through Honesdale, trying out some new restaurants, riding with the sun high in the sky, seeing all the new sights ---- IT DON'T GIT NO BETTER!! Thanks to the Endless Mtn participants for making the last four days a most enjoyable experience.

Message I ditto all of the above. It was great riding conditions and I am glad I did not talk Doug out of going. I was concerned about the weather, but it was the best ever.

Thanks Lynn and Mike for putting up with us little kids and all of our complaing. You did a great job and no mishaps.

Message The Endless Mountain trip was one of the Best ever!!! Sometimes it’s hard to believe that PARR people from all walks of life can get together ride and laugh with such ease.

As President of PARR I am making an on-line award to Robert Echard …

PARR’s Humanitarian Award – Robert during the Endless Mountain trip stop during one of our routes (don’t remember the day) and helped a turtle across the road….. Job well done!!!!

Also a few details on the trip… this is from Woodbridge, Virginia

Total Miles = 974
Driving Time = 21 hours 46 minutes
Average Drive Speed = 44.8 mh
Top Speed = 81.4 mh (except Mike, his was higher, ask Lynn for the exact speed, Ha Ha)

Message I also forgot to mention that on the Endless Mtn. Tour, PARR riders were watched by many deer who came to the edge of the fields looking for the infamous "deerslayer". But alas he was not there and they headed back into the woods.

AND 3 wild turkeys (two separate occasions) tried their best to get a very close look at our front tires, but luckily flew off at the last second.

Also, so that Mike would not be charged with an additional U-Turn (already had one for the day), Lynn Wascak and Lori Alvin, got off the bikes and moved two road barriers blocking a bridge under construction so that PARR members could ride across a half built bridge and avoid a detour (and U-Turn). Thanks ladies.

There were a lot of other experiences too, but you'll have to wait for the slide show and book version.

Message Thanks Mike and Lynn for another well run ride. The roads were great, the weather was wonderful. It is great to get away with a very diverse group of people and enjoy them all. PARR rides are worth the extra distance I ride from Delaware. The ride was enjoyable even without eating!
Thanks for a great 4 days!!

Message This year's Endless Mountain Tour was one of the Best ever!!! That's saying a lot when I think back on some really great years (1997 and 2001 were truly outstanding as I recall). There was only one other year I can think of where there was no rain at all during the trip (itself). Where else in the mid-Atlantic States but in NE PA could you have found blue skies and temps in the 70s for three solid days? This year's mix of riders was also a great bunch of folks to ride and party with. Thanks much to Mike and Lynn for putting the route together and leading us.

Message Hmm, no Deerslayer, so the deer all turned their backs on the EMT group. I'd have been with you were I not engaged in my annual Navy reserve active duty.

Still, I had my own close encounter of the worst kind with those stupid critters. Tom Southard and I rode together on Sunday and while tooling down some back road with Tom in the lead I noticed a good size deer running in a pasture towards the road. From the looks of things, the little bugger was heading directly for a collision course with Tom, who couldn't see the deer as it was coming at an angle and from behind him. Me? Hell, I slammed on my brakes and slowed to a crawl--I've already had my run-in with those blokes and don't care to have a repeat performance. I caught up with Tom about a mile up the road!!
