Message Sunday looks likes it is going to be a nice day. If there is anyone who is not going on the trip this weekend, I'll be happy to lead a pickup ride on Sunday morning.

Message HAH!!! HAH!! That's what I say to your suggestion that Sunday will be a nice day. I'll even repeat it--HAH!! C'mon, Tom, what makes you think this weekend is going to be any different than the last six or seven weekends?

Okay, now that I've ribbed ya bit, if the weather does hold I'd be up for a day-long ride. You'll need to select a meeting place, a time, and we'll need you to post a "go" or "no go" msg on this thread so we know if the ride is still on. In the past, I've used the JCC for a pick-up ride meeting place. Let me know!!

Regards.

Message I was planning a trip to Roanoke this weekend but things are looking grim. So, if I stay in the area I'd be interested in a Sunday ride.

Message Hmm, I don't know about this "Moses" crap. Seems to me if you could part the water in January you should be able to do it again during a trip to Roanoake. Sounds like some pretty whimpy miracles you're conjuring up!!

Let's hope the weather holds for Sunday and let's Ride.

Message Oh boy Ed. Here's a guy that got taken out by little old BAMBI telling me I'm afraid of the rain???

Guess you're right - won't wear my full-face on the Harley and that dang rain stings! Gotta keep up appearances.

Hope to see ya Sunday.

Message Okay, Moses, ya got me on that one. Yeah, I did get taken out by little ol Bambi, but at least I had the smarts to drop the bike on the deer and avoid damage!! Stupid deer!!

Looks like the weather is beginning to deteriorate. Weather late last evening was 20 percent chance of isolated t'storms. Today, it is more like 50 percent chance of isolated t'storms throughout the day. Tom called for the pick up ride and he's going to have to make a call. Our "Chief" has been a bit quiet. Hope he makes a call some time this evening. Not sure I want to bother riding between t'storms all day as my bike has to go in Tuesday for its first service anyway.

Message I was scrounging around for a ride tomorrow. If it's still on, I'm interested. I guess I'll be checking early tomorrow morning to see if anything is up.

Message Sorry folks for not responding sooner, I had to work from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today.

The weather channel says scattered showers possible, if it is not raining when I get up in the morning, I will meet at the usual place (the Colenade shopping center) around 9:00 a.m. Bring rain geer just in case.

Message Chief Tom, I'll be up around 0800. If it's not raining, I'll most likely ride, but I've got to qualify that as the weather really isn't looking to great as far as the forecast goes. Damn, I"m getting sick of all this rain. Anyone want to invest in an ark? Seems to me the sewers have got to back up sooner or later and arks would be a great investment.

Message Just looked at the radar map on weather.com. Looks like we're right on the line between a high and low pressure system with storms moving southwest of Virginia to the northeast, directly through northern Virginia. Tomorrow is beginning to look real iffy. I can handle some rain, but I'm not anxious to ride through some of the extreme downpours we've been experiencing. I'm going to play this by ear when I awaken.

Message Not sure what you guys ended up doing but I made the trip to Roanoke (actually Shawsville). Most of it was pretty pleasant (more fun if someone's riding along) but I did get hit with some rain. Soaked going down and just annoyed coming back.

Think sun!

Message Tom, thanks for taking me down some two-lane blacktop that I never knew existed. It was a fun day!! I have no idea where we went, apart from the fact that we ended up at one point in Front Royal, Luray, and Sperryville. The rest is a bit of a blur to me.

Moses, Tom took us through the Virginia countryside for a leisurely tour. We hit some sprinkles, but nothing major-- must enough to get the roads wet, and slick, since nothing was being washed away. Mostly, it was just annoying.

We almost had a close encounter of the worst kind with one of my favorite dumb animals... Yep, you guessed it, a deer. This time the bloke was running at full speed towards the road for a collision course with Tom, but at the last minute reversed course. Tom never saw it as the deer was going at him from slightly behind and running on a diagonal course, but I sure as hell could see him and was slowing down to a crawl long before the little bugger could take me out!

Message I believe this year has to be about the worse year yet for deer. I have never seen so many just casually walking along the side of the road.

I'm glad you guys had a safe, fun trip. From reading this and the "Endless" thread it was a banner week for riding!

Hoping for many more.
